Privacy Policy

Effective 7 October 2026

This policy covers the Voice Over Recorder app for macOS and this website. Both are made and run by Jens de Ruiter, an individual developer based in the Netherlands, who is responsible for them. Questions go to voice-over-recorder@jensderuiter.dev.

The app

• Microphone. The app asks for access to your microphone so it can record. While the app is open it listens to the microphone to show the input level, but it only keeps the audio between your presses of the record key. All of the processing (finding the pauses, playing back, exporting) happens on your Mac.
• Your recordings. Clips, exports and the untouched "raw takes" are saved only in the session folder you choose. The app never uploads them anywhere.
• Settings. Your preferences (such as the file name, the pause length and the session folder you picked) are stored locally on your Mac in the app's own storage.
• No network. The app makes no network connections. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third party code that collects data.
• Crash reports. If you have chosen in macOS to share crash data with app developers, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports on to me through App Store Connect. That is controlled by Apple and by your settings in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.

This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third party services, and loads its fonts from this server. The server that hosts it may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for a short time to keep the site running and secure. Those logs are not used for anything else and are not shared.

When you email me

If you contact me, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. I use it only to answer you, and I delete the conversation once it is no longer needed. Nothing is shared with anyone else.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. Since the app collects nothing, this only applies to emails you have sent me. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever starts to handle personal data, the policy will say so before that version is released.
